Last Wills and Testaments
A written Last Will and Testament allows you to choose who inherits your property when you die. If you die without a Last Will and Testament, your heirs will be determined by the laws of the State of South Carolina. We can assist you in preparing a Last Will and Testament that fits your needs and desires.
GENERAL DURABLE POWERS OF ATTORNEY
A General Durable Power of Attorney enables a person to appoint an Agent to handle their legal and financial affairs. A person must be mentally capable of making decisions when executing a power of attorney. If you become mentally incapacitated and you have not given someone your General Durable Power of Attorney, your loved ones will have to go through Probate Court to get the authority to handle your legal and financial affairs. This can be very costly and time consuming.
Living Wills and Health Care Powers of Attorney
A Living Will allows you to express to your loved ones and physicians, in writing, health care instructions. For example, it allows you to direct that you not be kept alive by artificial means under certain specified situations.
With a Health Care Power of Attorney you can name a trusted person to oversee your medical care and make health care decisions on your behalf if you are incapable of making them on your own.
